Another winter storm has pummelled "The Mountain," and the end of the winter climbing season is drawing near.
During the last 24 hours, Paradise measured over 28 inches of new snowfall, and another 7 inches has fallen today. In total, there is over 210 inches on the ground at the Paradise measuring station. This is definitely considered a substantial amount of snowpack.
The intensity and frequency of the winter storms has waylaid many climbers. Interestingly, there has been only one winter ascent of Mount Rainier in 05/06. That was Hannah Carrigan's climb of the Nisqually Icecliff on Feb 11th.
I wonder if anyone else will make it to the summit before March 20???
